This banana cinnamon smoothie recipe is healthy,  easy to make and will satisfy your sweet tooth without any added sugar!

Today I share one of my delicious healthy recipes: Banana Smoothie. You can have this smoothie for breakfast or as a snack.  I don’t use any sweetener as it is sweet enough for me but if you want you can add some honey, dates or other healthy sweetener-still keeping your smoothie healthy.

I love making smoothies. They are so yummy, healthy and easy to prepare.  If you like peanut butter-banana-chocolate combination, you should definitely check my Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie.  It stops your chocolate-sugar cravings very fast.

Or if you want to make a green smoothie and learn the tips for making an iron-rich smoothie, don’t forget to check my Iron Rich Green Smoothie.  You’ll find so much useful information in that post.

But today let’s make my delicious banana cinnamon smoothie which calls for very simple ingredients.  You can think of this smoothie as a base and add other flavors if you like.

Banana Smoothie Ingredients

Banana-I use 1 large frozen ripe banana which is around 135 grams.  Frozen banana makes this smoothie thick. Ripe banana sweetens this smoothie so you don’t need any added sugar.

If you don’t have frozen bananas in the freezer, slice them thin and place in a freezer bag and keep in the freezer for a couple of hours.

Milk-I use cow’s milk.  If you are vegan, you can use the type you prefer.

Cinnamon-It can be around ½ to ¼ teaspoon depending on how much you like cinnamon.

Nutmeg– I like the aroma of nutmeg but I use just a little.  If you don’t have it or don’t like it, you can omit. The taste mostly comes from the banana-cinnamon.

Ice cubes– I use 3-5 large ice cubes.  The ice cubes also thicken this smoothie.

There are so many health benefits of banana and milk.

Bananas are a good source of Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, manganese.  They give energy. You can read more about the benefits of bananas by clicking the link.

Milk is a good source of calcium, Vitamin D which are good for bone health. Milk just like bananas gives energy. You can read more about the benefits of the cow’s milk by clicking the link.

Cinnamon can lower blood sugar levels, lowers the risk of heart disease.  However, you should consume it carefully.  You can read more about cinnamon by clicking the link.

Nutmeg is good for digestion, may improve memory, good for the heart.  You shouldn’t consume too much nutmeg in a day because of its toxic effects.  You can read more about nutmeg by clicking the link.

How To Make a Banana Smoothie

First, pour the milk into the blender.  Next add in the frozen banana slices, cinnamon and nutmeg and blend for almost 1 minute.  Then add the ice cubes and just blend until the cubes are crushed but still have little ice pieces.  That’s all!
