INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED

Apples

Granulated sugar

Lemon juice

Butter

All purpose flour

Peel and core the apples. Slice them into small pieces.  Place the chopped apples into a medium bowl and toss with lemon juice, sugar, flour cinnamon and nutmeg.  Set aside the bowl.

Start with the apple filling.

Continue with the dough. Stir flour, cinnamon, and sugar in a large bowl.

Add the cold cubed butter. Cover with the flour mixture to make cutting the butter into the flour process easier. You can use a pastry cutter, or knife or use your hands for this process.

Add the apple mixture over the dough.  Cover the apples with the remaining ⅓ dough. If you like, you can make big crumbles by squeezing the dough with your hand.

Spread ⅔ of the mixture into an oven-proof dish.

Bake for 55 minutes or until the top becomes golden brown and the crumbles are crunchy.

Let it cool completely before slicing into pieces.
