INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED

Apples

Granulated sugar

Lemon juice

Egg

Apricot jam and water(for the glaze)

All purpose flour

Butter

Salt

Cinnamon

Nutmeg

Prepare the tart dough:  Place the flour, granulated sugar and salt into a medium bowl, stir with a whisk.

Gently mix with a fork until  the mixture is crumbly.

Add the cubed butter and cut into flour mixture with a pastry cutter.

Make a well in the middle of the flour mixture and add the egg.  Gently stir the egg with a fork/spoon and take the flour mixture from the sides to incorporate.

Stop when the mixture forms clusters.  Make a ball out of the dough. Place the dough onto a plastic film and make a disc.  Cover with plastic film and keep in the fridge for 1 hour or in the freezer for almost 15 minutes.

Put the apple slices into a large mixing bowl and stir in the lemon juice.   Add in the cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar and flour.

Prepare the apple filling:

Cover sides of the pan with large apple slices-cut side down.

Place the other slices tightly towards the middle.

Bake at 390°F(200°C) for 10 minutes and then continue at 350°F(175° C) for 50 more minutes or until the mixture is golden brown.

Sprinkle cubed butter on top.

Cook the apricot jam with water in a small pan for almost 2 minutes until the mixture is liquid. Strain through a fine-mesh strainer.

Prepare the apricot  glaze.

Brush the warm glaze on top of the apples.  Remove from the pan and serve warm or at room temperature.
