INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED

Apples

Granulated sugar

All purpose flour

Butter

Cinnamon

Nutmeg

Rolled oats

Heavy cream-to make caramel sauce

Cut the cored and peeled apples into small pieces. Place the apples in a medium bowl and mix in the cinnamon, nutmeg, flour and sugar.

Gently mix with a fork until  the mixture is crumbly.

Stir the rolled oats, flour, sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl.

Add the melted butter and stir with a spoon/spatula. Set aside ⅓ of the mixture to use for the crumbles.

Place ⅔ of the mixture into parchment paper lined square oven-proof dish.

Place the apple mixture over the crust and sprinkle the dough you set aside over the apples.  Gently press the crumbles so they stick to the apples.

Bake for 50 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

While it is baking, you can prepare the caramel sauce with sugar and heavy cream. Let the apple bar cool for an hour before pouring the sauce.

Pour the caramel sauce, then swirl the dish so the sauce spreads.

Once completely cooled, cut into slices.
